I'm not intending to make Google mad, just made this as an experiment. I'm willing to delete it completely if necessary.
About APITube
APITube is a web application that allows you to load and watch YouTube videos directly from a video ID or URL. Built with a simple and clean user interface, it fetches video details like the title, description, views, upload date, and channel information using the YouTube API.
The platform aims to provide a minimal, fast, and responsive experience for users who want to quickly view YouTube videos with additional metadata, without the distractions of YouTube's main website.
Key Features
- Load YouTube videos by ID or URL
- View video title, description, and statistics (views, upload date, etc.)
- See channel details including subscriber count
- Toggle between short and full video descriptions
- Watch videos in a clean, distraction-free interface
How It Works
APITube interacts with the YouTube Data API to fetch video and channel information. When you enter a video ID or URL, the app fetches the video details, including its title, description, and statistics like view count and upload date. The channel's subscriber count is also retrieved and displayed.
Additionally, the description of the video is shown with the option to toggle the visibility of longer descriptions.
Technology Stack
- HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend
- YouTube Data API v3 for fetching video and channel details
- Responsive design for optimal performance across devices
